Questions?
Why are you changing the name to Coors Original?

The new name reflects our heritage and is inspired by the original Coors recipe from 1873. Coors Original is brewed with quality ingredients, and still has the same great taste as Coors Banquet.

Is the name the only difference?

You’ll enjoy the same full-bodied taste, inspired by the original recipe and promise of time-tested quality!

Is it still being brewed in Golden?

Coors Banquet will still be brewed in Golden but will not be imported or sold here in Canada. Coors Original offers the same full-bodied flavour you love, brewed and sold in Canada with the tradition of never compromising since 1873.

There was nothing wrong with Banquet – what’s the point of changing it now?

While the name has changed, with every sip you’ll see that we’ve stayed true to the same full-bodied flavour you know and love. And the Banquet look you’ve been proud to hold will remain, too! The Coors Original name honours our heritage while marking a new page in our history.

Will the price change?

Still brewed with premium and quality ingredients, Coors Original will be sold at the same price as Coors Banquet.

Will it come out in both bottle and can form?

Coors Original will be available in 355mL and 473mL cans, and 341mL bottles. Pack sizes vary by retailer.

Will you keep the stubby bottles?

The stubby will no longer be available, but you can find Coors Original in 355mL and 473mL cans, and 341mL bottles. Good taste prevails in any can, bottle, or pint!

Is Coors Banquet ever coming back?

The Coors Banquet name will not be available in Canada, but you can enjoy Coors Original with the same full-bodied taste that you know and love.  Brewed to a golden standard with our same family spirit since 1873, it is a proud step forward in our history.

How does Canada benefit by brewing here?

Brewing Coors Original in Canada will result in a reduced carbon footprint thanks to shorter transportation distances than import and offer a new (and special) opportunity to our brewery employees. We look forward to growing in Canada through the hands of Canadians.

Will this be happening with any other Coors beer?

Coors Light, Coors Slice, and Coors Edge are all proudly brewed in Canada. Coors Original now joins the expert and trusted hands of our Canadian brewing teams.

I think it tastes different than Banquet – what gives?

In respect of the Coors tradition of never compromising since 1873, the passionate Canadian brewing and quality teams have worked together and with colleagues in Golden, Colorado to maintain the same full-bodied flavour. Give it another try and you’ll recognize that time-tested and true taste that you love.

Will it be the same quality?

Coors isn’t known for making compromises! Coors Original will use quality ingredients to brew true to the same full-bodied taste you expect.

Is the recipe different? / Will it taste the same?

You’ll enjoy the same full-bodied taste, inspired by the original recipe and promise of time-tested quality!

Is it actually the original recipe? What does ‘inspired by’ mean?

The original recipe from 1873 has evolved over time while being relentlessly committed to using quality ingredients and satisfying our fans through the generations. Coors Original continues this path forward, taking inspiration from the original recipe and resulting in the same full-bodied flavour you’ve enjoyed in Coors Banquet.

Is there really no where I can get Banquet now unless I go to the US?

Coors Banquet will still be brewed in Golden and available in the U.S. but will not be imported or sold here in Canada. Coors Original offers the same full-bodied flavour you love, brewed and sold in Canada with the same tradition of never compromising since 1873.

Are you taking away Banquet and replacing with Original because you’ll profit more?

Brewing in Canada allows us to reduce our carbon footprint and bring new opportunities to our Canadian brewing team. We look forward to growing in Canada through the hands of Canadians.

Why go through the trouble of changing the name and packaging if it’s the same beer?

Expanding our brewing is a new and important piece in our ongoing story that deserves a name. We call ourselves Coors Original to honour our heritage while marking a new page in our history.
